Lightweight Image Registration

Open source and commandline based application and/or software development library, that performs a 2D, rigid image registration on two greyscale images and outputs either the transformation parameters or the registered image.

This is a fork of fimreg, which was a supplementary software for our article in the Springer Journal of Realtime Image Processing: Highly efficient image registration for embedded systems using a distributed multicore DSP architecture (free of charge: preprint). While the parent project fimreg was focussed on an embedded setup with several special DSP coprocessors, this project – limereg – is taylored for the operation on a conventional PC or a sole uC.

If you want to understand what the application does, fimreg’s paper is the best starting point. Please be aware that this software is a limited research prototype, and if you need industrial quality please contact one of the authors.

Binary installation on Ubuntu 14.10 Linux (choose one, several or all of the packages mentioned in the apt-get install command):

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:roelofberg/limereg
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install limereg liblimereg1 liblimereg-dev
